The New Russian Republic of States was never a strong power and suffered from several divisions. Its western provinces were longtime allies of the Europa Economic Interest.
After the food riots at Yeltsingrad, the Republic divided again in 2112. The easternmost provinces voted to join with the DOMO, while the western ones went with the EEI.
In a surprise move, the Orbiting Industrial Platform of Pasternak (whose main spaceport had sided with DOMO), chose to join the EEI's fleet of platforms. This was the first time an OIP became an independent entity from its parent corporation.[1]
